that Act for the year ended December 31, 1969.

  Twenty-fourth Annual Report of the Milk Board
For the Year Ended December 31, 1969
This Report of the Milk Board is made in accordance with section 56 of the
Milk Industry Act and covers the calendar year ended December 31, 1969.
Tables giving up-to-date statistical information relative to the sales of fluid
dairy products, the production and utilization of qualifying milk, and the accounting
values for each class of qualifying milk and producer prices for qualifying milk are
appended hereto.
LEGISLATION
There were not any amendments to the Milk Industry Act passed at the 1969
Session of the Legislature.
AREAS OF PRODUCTION
There are five defined areas of production under Part III of the Act. They are
the Vancouver, the Vancouver Island, the Kamloops-Okanagan, the East and West
Kootenay, and the Cariboo and Central British Columbia areas.
MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD
Mr. E. D. Daum, B.A., C.A., was appointed Chairman of the Board, effective
July 1, 1969, following the retirement of Mr. E. C. Carr, as Chairman, after 23
years of dedicated service in that position. Effective October 7, 1969, Mr. C. H. P.
Killick was appointed as the third member of the Board.
The present members are Elmer D. Daum, B.A., CA. (Chairman), John D.
Honeyman, and C. H. P. Killick, P.Ag.
BOARD MEETINGS
There were not any public hearings held during the year.
The Board met 13 times in its office to deal with matters of policy and administration. In addition numerous conferences were also held with producers, vendors,
and other interested parties to discuss matters pertaining to the production and
marketing of milk.
LICENSING
Under the provisions of General Order No. 39, two classes of licences are issued
by the Board. Vendors and milk jobbers are required to obtain Class I licences, and
producers Class II licences. Both licences are issued for a period of 12 months, or
portion thereof, ending on March 31st of the period in respect of which they are
issued. A summary of 1969/70 licences issued, cancelled, and in effect at December 31st follows:—
