Canadian Pioneer Insurance Company; Commerce and Industry Insurance Company; Emmco Insurance Company; Firemen's Mutual Insurance Company; General Insurance Company Helvetia, Limited; Home and Overseas Insurance Company, Limited; Income Insurance Company of Canada; Missisquoi & Rouville

Nine insurers ceased to transact business in the Province during the year, and

River Insurance Company; Northwestern National Insurance Company; The Palatine Insurance Company, Limited; and The Royal Scottish Insurance Company,

includes insurers licensed since December 31, 1962, and shows the classes of insurance for which all insurers are now licensed.
On analysis the list shows that 74 companies (exclusive of fraternal societies)
were licensed for life insurance, 223 for fire insurance, 213 for automobile insurance,
and 103 for marine insurance. These figures cover only the major classes of insurance, and it should be understood that the same company may be licensed, for
example, for fire, automobile, and marine insurance.
The annual statements of the companies holding Provincial licences only are
set forth at length on pages 40 to 52.
There were two underwriters' agencies licensed under the Act, and the list
appears on page 39.
The taxes collected on unlicensed insurance amount to $3,931.51.
The number of insurance agents' and salesmen's licences issued for the year
1962 is given below, together with a comparative table for the previous four years:—
