ANNUAL REPORT.
REPORT OF THE BUSINESS DONE IN PURSUANCE OF THE "TEACHERS'
PENSIONS ACT" DURING THE PERIOD APRIL 1st, 1940, TO DECEMBER
31ST, 1940.
Section 3.—The total number of teachers contributing to the Teachers' Pensions Fund
on December 31st, 1940, was 4,257. In addition, 300 teachers who were temporarily unemployed on December 31st, 1940, and therefore not actually contributors, still had amounts in
the Teachers' Pensions Fund.
Section 4-—On December 31st, 1940, 158 teachers throughout the Province were contributing at a rate greater than 4 per cent., pursuant to the provisions of this section.
Section 6.—There were 3 contributors making special voluntary contributions as at
December* 31st, 1940.
Section 13 (a), (6).—During the period April 1st, 1940, to December 31st, 1940, pensions
were granted by the Teachers' Pensions Board to 7 teachers.
Section 16.—Two teachers died, and allowances were granted to the widows in accordance
with the provisions of this section.
Section 20.—Six teachers died during the period, and refunds amounting to $6,230.39
were made to the legal representatives.
Section 21.—Refunds amounting to $86,278.11 were made to 288 teachers, who renounced
their rights pursuant to the provisions of this section.
