Sir,—I have the honour to lay before you the Report of the business done in pursuance of the " Teachers' Pensions Act " during the fiscal year 1935-36. I have the honour to be, Sir, Your obedient servant, NORMAN BAKER, Superannuation Commissioner. TEACHERS1 PENSIONS ACT. ANNUAL REPORT, 1935-36. REPORT OP THE BUSINESS DONE IN PURSUANCE OP THE "TEACHERS' PENSIONS ACT " DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, 1935-36. Section 3.—The total number of teachers contributing to the Teachers' Pensions Fund on March 31st, 1936, was 3,947. In addition, 318 teachers who were temporarily unemployed on March 31st, 1936, and therefore not actually contributors, still had amounts in the Teachers' Pensions Fund. Section 4-—On March 31st, 1936, 185 teachers throughout the Province were contributing at a rate greater than 4 per cent, pursuant to the provisions of this section. Section 6.—There were 8 contributors making special voluntary contributions as at March 31st, 1936. Section 8.—Applications were considered by the Teachers' Pensions Board and Orders made for 5 contributors, under the provisions of this section. Section 13.—Investments: These securities are now treated as the property of the Crown, pursuant to legal opinion of the Attorney-General dated March 4th, 1935. Section 14 (a), (b).—During the period April 1st, 1935, to March 31st, 1936, pensions were granted by the Teachers' Pensions Board to 25 teachers. Section 17.—Six teachers died, and allowances were granted to the widows in accordance with the provisions of this section. Section 21.—Eight teachers died during the year, and refunds amounting to $2,596.84 were made to the legal representatives. Section 22.—Refunds amounting to $45,187.27 were made to 227 teachers, who renounced their rights pursuant to the provisions of this section. ' Section 25 (1), (a).—One allowance was granted pursuant to the provisions of this section. Section 36.—Two allowances were granted pursuant to the provisions of this section. P 6 BRITISH COLUMBIA.
