of the " Teachers' Pensions Act " during the fiscal year 1937-38.

ANNUAL  REPORT, 1937-38.
REPORT OF THE BUSINESS DONE IN PURSUANCE OF THE " TEACHERS'
PENSIONS ACT" DURING THE FISCAL YEAR 1937-38.
Section 3,—The total number of teachers contributing to the Teachers' Pensions Fund on
March 31st, 1938, was 4,074. In addition, 365 teachers who were temporarily unemployed
on March 31st, 1938, and therefore not actually contributors, still had amounts in the
Teachers' Pensions Fund.
Section 4-—On March 31st, 1938, 166 teachers throughout the Province were contributing
at a rate greater than 4 per cent, pursuant to the provisions of this section.
Section 6.—There were 11 contributors making special voluntary contributions as at
March 31st, 1938.
Section 8.—Applications were considered by the Teachers' Pensions Board and Orders
made for 5 contributors, under the provisions of this section.
Section 13 (a), (b).—During the period April 1st, 1937, to March 31st, 1938, pensions
were granted by the Teachers' Pensions Board to 21 teachers.
Section 16.—Two teachers died, and allowances were granted to the widows in accordance
with the provisions of this section.
Section 20.—Five teachers died during the year, and refunds amounting to $1,991.58
were made to the legal representatives.
Section 21.—Refunds amounting to $69,646.10 were made to 272 teachers, who renounced
their rights pursuant to the provisions of this section.
Section 24.,—One teacher was retired under the provisions of this section, and a refund
was made to the wife.
Section 35.—Two allowances were granted pursuant to the provisions of this section.
