of the " Superannuation Act" during the fiscal year 1933-34.

REPORT OF THE BUSINESS DONE IN PURSUANCE OF THE " SUPERANNUATION
ACT" DURING THE FISCAL YEAR 1933-34.
Section 5.—Contributions were made by the employees of the British Columbia Government
of $178,669.35 and by Municipal and School Board employees of $191,993.54.
Section 6.—On March 31st, 1934, 427 employees of the British Columbia Government, 739
Municipal employees, and 102 School Board employees were contributing more than 4 per cent.
Section 9.—There were 104 contributors making voluntary contributions pursuant to this
section as at March 31st, 1934.
Section 10.—As at March 31st, 1934, an amount of $5,681,974.29 had been invested in guaranteed securities having a par value of $5,857,879.89.
Section 11.—Interest was credited at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum on September 30th,
1933, and March 31st, 1934, on the credit balances of the previous April 1st, 1933, and October
1st, 1933, respectively.
Section 12.—A statement of all moneys received and paid out under the provisions of this
Act and the assets and liabilities appertaining to the granting of superannuation allowances
under its provisions is given in Schedule No. 1.
Section 18.— (1.) (a.) The sum of $39,708.09 was refunded under sections 18 and 19 to
employees of the British Columbia Government, and $49,724.13 to employees of the Cities and
Municipalities and School Boards, now operating under the provisions of the Act. Like amounts
were transferred from the British Columbia Government Employer's Account, the Cities and
Municipalities Employers' Accounts, and the School Boards Employers' Accounts to their separate accounts in the Special Reserve Fund.
(3.) The cash credit balance of the British Columbia Government Special Reserve Account
amounted to $263,895.73 on March 31st, 1934. The total cash credit balances of certain City,
Municipal, and School Board Special Reserve Accounts amounted to $19,831.32. The cash overdraft in certain City, Municipal, and School Board Special Reserve Accounts amounted to
$437,634.50.
Section Uf.—Superannuation allowances were granted to 118 persons—37 British Columbia
Government employees, 63 Municipal employees, and 18 School Board employees.
Section 18.—Nine British Columbia Government employees, 6 Municipal, and 4 School Board
employees died during the year and refunds were made to their legal representatives.
Section 19.—Ninety-two contributors, on leaving the Government Service, secured refunds of
the amounts standing at their credit. Also 207 Municipal, 17 School Board employees, and 5
employees under Part V., on leaving the service of their employer, secured a refund of the
amount at their credit in the Superannuation Fund.
Section 20.—Two contributors who left the Government Service had made voluntary contributions under section 9, and secured a refund of these special contributions.
Section 20v>.—An amount of $310 was received from Municipal employees who were
reappointed to the service of the same employer.
Section 38.—In accordance with instructions received from the Deputy Minister of Finance,
an amount of $1,222.43 was paid to the Crown pursuant to the provisions of this section.
