*Note.—The per capita grant, as above shown at $39,269.20, is on the basis of 98,173 population. The
census returns for 1901 show an increase in population of 79,099, which would give a per capita grant for
the half-year ending 31st December, 1901, of $70,908.80, but as the difference was not paid into the Treasury
until February 5th, 1902, it therefore does not appear as a portion of Revenue Receipts at the date of this
Return.
