 598 Timber Limits in East Kootenay. 1895
FURTHER  RETURN
To an Order of the House for a Return giving the location, extent, and rental of all
timber limits and leases in Kootenay:
(a.) Amount due and owing to the Government for rent on same, and timber
dues on timber cut, together with the names of the parties so in debt:
(6.)  Names of all parties who have taken out hand-loggers' licences in Kootenay,
under section 70 of the "Land Act":
(c.)   A statement showing the names of all who are liable in Kootenay to make
returns under section 75 of the " Land Act," and the particulars of such
returns.

TIMBER LANDS, ETC., EAST DIVISION OF KOOTENAY DISTRICT.
A lease of 1,560 acres was granted to H. J. Carman on the 5th February, 1891, for a
term of twenty-one (21) years. The Lessee never paid any rental, and the lease became
forfeited.
On the 25th October, 1894, special timber cutting licences were issued to H. Symons and
W. J. Carroll to remove timber from off lands at Michael Creek. The licences expired on
25th October, 1894, and have not since been renewed.
Saw-mills.
H. J. Cannan has a mill with a daily capacity of 10,000 feet. He does not hold any
Provincial timber leaseholds or timber limits.
The Upper Columbia Navigation and Tramway Company has a mill with a daily capacity
of 6,000 feet.    They have no timber leaseholds or timber limits.
A. Hanson has a mill with a daily capacity of 4,000 feet. He does not own any leaseholds or timber limits.
So far as the Department is advised, there is no revenue due to the Crown on account of
timber lands in East Kootenay.
