 52 Vict. Correspondence—Savona Public School. 391

Mr. Leighton to the Superintendent of Education.

hauled to School-house, I will haul the sameyree oj charge for three years.
The wood is generally bought from Indians and delivered along lake tshore at high-water
mark.

(Signed) Jas. B. Leighton.
Savona, B. O, 2nd January, 1889.
Mr. Leighton to the Superintendent of Education.
Dear Sir,—I hereby offer the use of a good building here, suitable for a school-house,
free oj charge for Five years. It will require about eighty dollars to put it in thorough good
condition. This will include desks and forms necessary for the scholars.
Yours. &c,
(Signed) Jas. B. Leighton.
Mr. Semlin to the Provincial Secretary.
Dominion Ranch, Cache Creek,
January 5th, 1889.
Dear Sir,—I beg to call your attention to a petition from the residents of Savona,
praying for a school at that place. They offer to furnish a building for a time, rent free. I
hope that your department will be in a position to accede to the prayer of the petitioners.
Several schools have been closed in this part of the country, until it begins to look as though
we were not to have an education comeatable for many of our rural districts. The proposition
of the Savona people would entail little more expense than the salary of the teacher, and I
trust will be accepted by the Government.
I have, &c.,
