Governor in Council, and the use of Parliament, the Thirteenth Annual Report, under the
provisions of the "Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Act, 1872."

Columbia.
May it Please Your Honour:—
In accordance with the provisions of the Statute in that behalf, I have the honour to
submit the Thirteenth Annual Report on the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages in
this Province, the period covered being the year ended 31st December, 1885.
The returns show the registration of 320 Births, 323' Deaths and 193 Marriages for the
year 1885, against 263 Births, 377 Deaths and 227 Marriages for the year 1884, being an
increase of 57 Births, and a decrease of 54 Deaths and 34 Marriages; and making together a
total decrease of 31 Registrations for the year 1885.

Of the total number of marriages registered, 179 were by licence and 14 by banns.
The age of the eldest Bride was returned at 63 years, and the youngest at 15 years.
The age of the eldest Bridegroom was returned at 71 years, and the youngest at 19 years.
Of the marriages above classed under the heading of "Episcopalians," 7 couple were
returned as "Episcopalians," 2 couple as "Reformed Episcopalians," and 20 couple as "Church
of England."
The mixed marriages entered in the column headed "Where the Bride and Bridegroom
are of different Denominations" are distributed by the returns amongst the various religious
bodies as follows:—
