RETURN To an Order of the House for the following information with regard to the examination of Teachers held July, 1884: -- (a) The number of candidates for First-class, Grad A, Certificates--1st. By renewals ; 2nd. By examinations in whole ; 3rd. By examinations in part only; 4th. The number successful in each kind of application ; and 5th. The number who failed in each kind, and the certificates awarded in lieu. (b) A similar return to (a) in the case of Candidates for First-class, Grade B, Certificates. (c) 1st. The total number of Candidates examined for second and third-class Certificates; 2nd. The number of those who failed to obtain the lowest grade of those Certificates, viz.: Third class, Grade B. (d) The number of those who, failing to obtain certificates as in (c), were recommended for Temporary Certificates.--1st. Who were not examined at all ; 2nd. Who were examined in part only. (f) The total number of Candidates for Certificates obtainable by renewal and examination, and not including those who did not present themselves for examination. (g) The total number of those who, presenting themselves for examination, failed to obtain a Certificate of any kind.
