We have here an increase in the number of Marriages registered of 13.
Of the total number of Marriages registered, 123 were by Licence, il by Banns, and
1 by Civil Contract.
The age of the eldest bride was returned at 56 years, and the youngest at 15 years. 44 Vic.
Births, Deaths, and Marriages, 1879.
379
The age of the eldest bridegroom was returned at 54 years, and the youngest at 22
years.
Of the Marriages above classed under the denomination of Episcopalian, 11 couple
were returned as belonging to the " Church of England," 12 couple as "Anglicans," 5
couple as "Episcopalians," and 2 as "Reformed Episcopalians."
A new feature in my Report for the year 1878 was the introduction of an analytical
table of the Mixed Marriages entered under the column headed " Where Bride and
Bridegroom are of different denominations," nearly one-third of the marriages for that
year being of this class.
For the year 1879 the Mixed Marriages form exactly one-third of the whole number
registered, and the 90 persons, or 45 couple entered under that heading are respectively
distributed by the returns amongst the different religious denominations as follows.
First, taking the Bridegroom's side, we find that—
4 Episcopalians married Methodists.

10 Presbyterians
