Dave Orifiith has recorded Ihe  assessment work on tlie, ,linld  Mountain claim.  i  Some handsome samples,-of  copper oie from the , Mystery  mine, Whitefi>h creek, were  brought into town Monday, and  created considerable - interest  among mining men.  The lead smelleu at Kaslo is  assured under one condition.  The mining men there must subscribe 75,000 shares of stock in  the company. This'they are reported to be .doing already, so  that tho outlook'is favorable.  A .large bed of good paying  gravel has boon worlced this  summer by the'^Thompson Co.  on Wild Horse creek,'and the indications are favorable for a  large and profitable clean-up.  Some Ol) men ��� have been  engaged in placer mining on  Wild Horse creek this summer.  Word comes from'Wild Horse  creek that the Thompson Co.  will commence cleaning up inside of two weeks.  .1. C. Unless our company gets as low rates as the  Trail smelter offered in March  last we don't propose to move  Tho company won't be held up  by any railway corporation or  smelter, because .we don't have  to submit. -'' The St. Eugene  company doesn't owe a cent, has  money in the bank and the mine  is there and cannot be stolen."  "iWhen the Trail smelter is  ready to do business with us on  a reasonable basis, which is the  March rate, we are prepared lo  sign a contract and to operate  the St. Eugene to its full capacity. Tliis means a daily output  of not less than 1,000 tons of  concentrates' and the employ-  mentof 200 men''.  "Meantime, alterations and improvements  are  being  made at  tlie  St.   Eugene  mill   under the  direction, of Mill,Superintendent  King.;    The  plant  is   being arranged   to   save  the zinc-blende  carried in our ore.  "Wo. expect  to save from. 250 to   .'{00  ions  of  zinc-blende monthly, but do not  propose putting this product  on  the, market, at the. present  time.  The only   sale   for   Canadian  zinc-blende   is  at   tola,   Kansas,  and we expect to secure a market  near home eventually.  On Monday evening the  Liberals of Pernio held their  first mass mooting in Princess  Hall. E. C. Smith. Parr,  Liberal candidate for Ymir. ad-  dressed the meeting which was  enthusiastic and largely attended  At Bull River Placers,  Work at the Bull river, placer  mines is progressing rapidly.  The road from the Chickamun  to the falls on Bull river has  been completed. Timber has  been cut. and buildings for the  accommodation of miners is well  under way, and will bo located  at the --biir springs" near fhe  falls.  A number of workmen are now  engaged in cutting the right of  way for the big flume, grading  will commence in a few days. It  i.s tho intention of the company  to push this work as rapidly as  possible. ,  Deadwood. S.D., Sept.' 4.���'  Delegates are already arriving  in large numbers for ihe  meeting of the American Mining  Congress, which is to boyin it.-,  'sessions hero next Monday and  continue through ilie week. Indications point lo a large attendance from Colorada. California.  Arizona,        Montana. Idaho,  Nevada iind, numerous oilier  stales, and British Columbia.  .Judging from lhe preparations  made, and the large number of  early arrivals the session will be  a memorable one. It is the first  time that the Congress'has been  honored by fhe official recognition of tho President of the  United States, who is represented by'Leslie M. Shaw, secretary  of the treasury.
