Mr.  Drewery and his supporters considered   to  be justice   to   I hem.1  they withdrew and took no  further   park in   the   proceedings. The Boundary mines have  shipped this year-lodate 81(5.010  tons and Rossland 223.217.  The Morrissoy mines have  been averaging over 1100 tons  daily for the past ten days.  A case of small pox is   reported at the old town of Morrissoy.  E. C. Smith has  received   the  Liberal nomination at Fernie. '  The Larsen brothers left   Fori  Steele  Tuesday  for   the  Tiger-  D. V. Mott/and a number of  Fernie Liberals visited Michel  last week for the purpose of organizing a Liberal association at  that place. The miners met  them with .-'a marble stare", 'and  "frozen hand". The miners are  not- in line with the Liberal  party.  Harry Bentley. Grace, that  this convention adopt and confirm the principles laid down in  the. Conservative platform as  settled, upon at 'the Revelstoke  Convention September -'.Ird, 1902.  The,.motion was carried unanimously amid great applause.  Motion by A. B. Grace,  seconded by A. -J. Sutherland,  that all delegates present pledge  themselves to support and work  I'or the nominee of this convention, the motion prevailed.  J. L. Parker, chairman, then  explained the object of the convention, and gave an outline of  the programme as announced by  the McBridc government, and  the Provincial Conservative  Party. Hc'then announced that  nominations would be received.  ���W.J. Noble. Perry Creek,-in  a few well chosen words then  nominated Thomas Cavin. Cranbrook, whose name was received  with loud cheering.  The nomination was seconded  by Walt Edwards. Cranbrook.  J. L. Parker then retired from  the chair, and amid great applause nominated J. A. Harvey  of Fort Steele:,he spoke briefly  of his long acquaintance of the  nominee, and expressed the belief that, if he received the confidence of lhe convention he  would be successful at ihe polls.  ���The-nomination of Mr. Harvey  was seconded by A. P., Macdonald ol" Moyie! ...  'There being no further nominations and after an.interval of 20  'minutes-, during ..whi'c.h G. "H.  Thornpson, Cranbrook': A..c: .1.  Sutherland; North Star mine  addressed the convention, "the  chairman then .declared the nominations closed.  V.   Rollins  and   A!    H.  Grace  were appointed, as scrutineers.  The result of the first- ballot  was Cavin 10; Harvey 10.  J. A. Harvey then addressed  the convention. He reviewed in  brief the record of tlie'Conservative party, and enlarged upon  the necessity of returning a supporter.,of the present government, and while he would consider   it  a   great   honor   to   be  chosen  as  ihe nominee  of ihi-  convention, he was certain   that  Mr. Cavin should be the favored'  one  and   that   he would ask tin-  convent ion as a   persona]   favor  to  make  the   nomination of Mr.  Gavin unanimous.   He concluded  his remarks by pledging himself  to do all in his power during 11ncoming campaign   to eleci   the  party's     standard    bearer. "   ���  Under date of August 13th the  Nelson News publishes the following: -'The government has  given notice cancelling all timber licenses granted in Block  -1394. This is regarded as an indication that nothing, will be  done this year in settling this  question.  The above statement is "misleading and untrue. The only  licenses cancelled were four that  were recemly issued by mi.->ta'he  by some official in tlie Lands and  Works department.  Visited Fort Steele.
