Recent Strike of High-GradeAo Ore  In    Nettie   HI.���Paradise    Has  ' 20,000 Tons of Ore in Sight.4'  A prominent mining man who  has just returned from the Windermere country, says, that the  recent strike, in the Nettie M.,  group" of mines, is one that is  attracting thea'.tention of mining  men from all over ihe Kootenays  Messrs Washburn and (Starke,  the owners, have performed a  largo amount of development, the  ���vcin' has bcou opened up b,\  surface cuts, shafts and drifts  Th'e ore body has a width of I-J  inches, and is a high guide galena carrying- "100 ounces iu silver  and about fin percent lead. Four  men are now engaged,in sacking  ore, and it is expected that  several carloads will be shipped  before navigation closes on the  Columbia  river.  Win. llaupt is busy getting  out ore on the Tecumseh. He  has two loot of galena which  runs high in silver-lead., A shipment of several cars will he made  befoie tho season i.s closed. Con-  Halifax,   N.S.,   August   20.���  The  fleetest keels of thnCana-  dian  and Eastern  Yacht  Clubs  are assembled in Halifax harbor  to attend the annual  yacht   race  for the Prince of Wales Cup. the  most coveted   trophy   ever  con  tested for in nay of the   British  colonies     The yachts-of lhe   N.  Y.Y.C. and of the Eastern Yacht  Club,   which  /.ook   part   in   the  ocean race from   Marblehead   io  Halifax,   arrived   here,  in   good  time are now the  guests of   the  Roy a 1 N o v a Soo t i a Ya c h t  C i u b.  [n view of this fact that there   i.s  probably  not  a   yacht   in  Nova  Scotia equal in speed'to many bf  the American yachts just in from  their ocean race, il is highly  un-,  selfish and sportsmanlike act   ol  the   Royal   Nova   Scotia   Yacht  Club, to extend an invitation   to  the  American   visitors   lo  compete wilh the Novii0Scotian   and  other  Canadian   yachts-for   the  magnificent prize.  The cup was originally presented io the Halifax Yacht  Club when tho present King  then the Prince of Wales, visited  Halifax in I SOO. It is a beautiful specimen of Ihe .silversmith's  art, standing two feet and of  great artistic value. When the  Halifax Club went out of existence in 1898 and the Royal Nova  Scotia Yacht .Club-'was   formed.  i'  the  hitter 'received  the   trophy  grand testival, on which occasion the Prince of Wales, the  Minot Cup and the other trophies  will be presented to- the respective winners. Dr. Bryce of Manitoba University delivered an  interesting lecture Tuesday  evening in the .Presbyterian  Church, on "Tlie Early Days in  Western Canada". The returns of shipments to  the Canadian Reduction Works  al Trail from July 1st 1901 to  June --nth 10(1."), .show that the  St. Eugene mine produced  0.217.HOS lbs., of lead, and the  North Star ^USi'.OO.'J lbs..of lead.
