Siiowdun, manager for the  Uorne Payne Co. in North Ivootenay,  is making application for water privileges near Ferguson. This indicates  that it is the intention of this company  to erect a concentrator there, and no  more suitable- place r could he, had. Payne Co.  are evidently pleased with their investments in this neighborhood and  intend ic> work their' properties in the  manner peculiar to English corpora-  tioi's, Hi-it is, go in for everything that  connects with their business of mining.  They will uofconly initio their.ore, but  al*o concentrate, transport and smelt  it theuiselyes, and will probably i.pi-rate their own stores, hotels, sawmills,  lownsites and e.verything'else.  The (ireat Northern, Silver ; Cup,  Broadview, Old Sonoma, Philli- .*burg,  Sunshine, Towser, liadshot, Hillside  and a number of other claims will all  be worked this winter and most probably >hip ore. The indication's are that  theie will be no brisker or richer silver  camp in West Kootenay outside of the  Slocau next season than Trout Lake.  The discoveries made this year are all  turning out well and the developed  properties are proving themselves  mine*.
