Canada's Financial Position.    *
Under the management of the Liberals the financial position of Canada foi
the past two years condensed into the
smallest possible space for the convenience of those who do not care to investigate the matter for themselves, is
as follows : The revenue from ordiiiary
souices for 1S!)S was $10,535,000 and
the expenditure for oidinary purposes
$3S,832,0()0, leaving a surplus of $1,722,-
000, the first surplus the country, could
boast of,for five yeais. For tbe fiscal
year 1SC9 I he revenue was $10,001,006
and the expenditure $30,22,1,557, leaving a sin plus of over, $f',l)(K),000. The
actual surplus in this year was reeuced
by some further expenditures however
to about $3,000,000. This expanding
revenue, he. it remembered, was produced under taxation considerably
lower than has been imposed on the
people of Canad i for' many years.'
