Electric Co.  wanted the original plans of the  bridge widened 15 feet for traffic space  for their cars, to which the city would  not agree. It was stated that unless  the city agreed to these terms the  railway company would not appropriate-the $50,000 towards the const, of  the project. Only tentative outline sketch'designs for the building are requested,  and eight (8) prizes are offered aggregating ������6000, the first being ������2000,  in addition to commission for service  at the scale of the Royal Institute of  British Architects. The  cause of the fire is unknown. Insurance was carried . to the extent - of  about $7,000.  The 30,000 bushel elevator of Mrs.  Wm. Thompson at Magrath, Alta., was  completely destroyed by fire. The  amount of the damage could not be  ascertained, but the structure was  fully covered by insurance.  REDCLIFF NEWS  The Imperial Brass Mfg. Co., has let  the contract for their factory to be  built this fall, and the work will start  next week. It will be a duplicate of  their Chicago plant, manufacturing  hardware and brass specialties. '  Power Plant, Edmonton���������Messrs.  Sanderson & Porter, of Ne^v York, financiers and builders of hydro electric  plants recently, made a proposal to  the city of Edmonton to furnish the  city with electric power. The proprosed  plant would be erected at Moose River,  B.'C, in the Yellowstone Pass of the  Rockies. Its minimum capacity would  be 300,000,000 K.W.H. transmitted by  cable to Edmonton. The estimated  cost of the project is $3,500,000.
