Dept.  of Public Works is, receiving general  ��������� contract figures for const. Section 2  of the Fraser River Jetty. (Closing  date not given.)  This section of the jetty is of much  heavier construction than No. 1 section, and extends seaward in a gentle  curve for 710 feet from the end of the  first section. It will be of brush mattress and rock construction, 190 feet  wide at the base with regular courses  of brush and rock, the whole to be  deeply covered with quarried granite.  Its height varies from_five feet at the  outer" end to 18 feet where "the jetty  crosses Hayseed channel. Plans are  all prepared for the job, and there is  nothing in the way of letting the contract this summer and proceeding  with the work this autumn. It is expected that about one year will be  required to complete this section.  The jetty is being ) built in three  sections, the first having been completed this spring. It was 6300 feet  in length, stretching outward across  the sandheads from the dyke at Steveston. The second section, that now  about to be tendered for will be 7100  feet long, and the third section will  be still longer, some 9000- test in all.  The third section will bo of most  massive construction and will,0 it is  expected, be far the most expensive.  It is expected that as soon as, the  north jetty is completed, work will  begin on the south jetty. The interior decorations of the  courtrooms, will be panelled with high  grade oak. Thirty-two firms "tendered  on the job the figures rapging from  $19,000 to $67,000.  OIL EXCHANGE WILL  ERECT   NEW   BUILDING  Oil Exchange Bldg, Calgary���������It is  reported from Calgary that the Calgary Oil and Stock Exchange will  erect a building especially suited for  .stock exchange.    The    building    will  I have a fifty foot frontage on 7th Ave.  ,and will cost in the neighborhood of  j $75,000. Building permits issued from the engineers office for the six months ending June 30, total S48.000. Charles    Hayward,    James    Andrew  j Mara   and   James   Forman,  and   they  I are incorporated, according to the announcement contained in    the    B. C.  Gazette, to  acquire  lands  and   buildings, etc.  It is understood that, the company  will acquire the L-shaped lot fronting  on Government and Fort streets and  surrounding the corner which is held  by the, Canadian Northern Pacific  Railway Company, - which was purchased two years ago .for the sum of  S200.000 by a syndicate consisting of  Charles Hayward, J. A, Mara. Percy  Raymond, Fred. I>andsber������r. Fed.  Moore, Luke Pither .and B. S. Heins-  terman  Plans have been prepared by Archt.  P. E. Watkins for a one-story bundling of brick, and the tenders for this  closed on Saturday. It is said that several Vancouver  parties are interested in the venture,  but these names are withheld from  publication. However, contractors who  desire to figure the job can get in  touch with these parties, from whom  plans can be obtained, through the  office of the architects in Vancouver. -  The���������bldg. will be mill construction,  with cement plaster finish. There will  be a complete equipment of machinery; corrugated iron roof and work  is to commence as quickly as a contract is let, so that the structure can  be finished by September, if possible.  The structure will be apportioned so  that one section of the bldg is 5 -sto  in' height, another section 3-sto and  still another section only- 2-sto in  height.
