The question of reinviting tenders  tor the "Cotton" et paving contracts  may be considered by the board of  works at its session this afternoon.  Tenders for furnishing 400M ft of  sidewalk lumber were closed by the  North Vancouver municipality yesterday; results not known.  The City of Victoria has sold $1,500,-  000 of treasury bills, to be used for  local improvement and waterworks  purposes.  The residents of Sea Island (Richmond Dist.) are asking the provincial  government for funds to erect dykes  to prevent inundation of their lands.  The proposed expenditure on trunk  sewers in  Vancouver as outlined by;  engineers  for tbe Burrard  Peninsula  Sewerage, Board, amount to about $1,-  ; :J45,000.   The first unit of the work is  {being undertaken by day labor.  ���������    Oak Bay now requires a permit for  jail  building work. Territories and a portion of tile Province of Biltish Columbia, mayvbe leased

forty-two miles of steel pipe, fifty-four
Inches internal diameter, thirty-two
of steel pipe fifty-eight inches Internal
diameter, and Aabout eleven miles of steel
pipe,  fifty-one inches internal diameter.
Forms of tender and specification may
be obtained from Sir Alex. Binnie Son &
Deacon, - St Stephens House, Victoria
Embankment, London, S.W., or from the
City Engineer of Ottawa, Canada, on
and after ' the fifteenth ori receipt by
them of a cheque to -the value of five
hundred dollars made out to the. City
Treasurer of the City of Ottawa, Canada,
which sum will be returned on receipt
of* a bona fide tender.'
The lowest or any tender is not necessarily accepted.
