Co., 1140 Alberni St., has been  awarded a contract to erect a l-sto.  25x52 brk store bldg ou Main St.,  between 7th and Sth, for R. Cowan.  Mr. Hosking says all sub-contracts  are let.  Mr. Hosking also reports that he  will start the contract on the new  Eagle's Hall bldg., on Homer, between  Pender and Dunsmuir streets, on  Monday. All sub-contracts on this  bldg. are signed.  ELECTRIC SWING SPAN  OF  BRIDGE  COMPLETED  Bridge, Coquitlam���������The new electric  swing span of the C.P.R. double track  bridge across -the Pitt River -s now-  completed. This span will be operated  by electric power from special high  tension wires of the B.C.E.R. ��������� system  at the roundhouse here, and is 276.6  feet long and will allow a clear passage of 116 feet on .each side of the  pier to vessels passing through the  bridge. Two operators will be employed in the swing, one for day and  one for night work.  The total length of the entire bridge  is 1749 feet, measuring from the east  side of the abutment on Port Coquitlam side of the-river-to the-west side  of the abutment on the "Pitt Meadows  bank. ,  Of the steelwork to be installed by  the Dominion Bridge Company two  trestles and one girder span have yet  to be fitted. Each trestle' span of steel  has 'a measurement of 257.9 feet, the  girders  being 80 feet.  NAIRN  FALLS POWER CO.  PLANS STORAGE WORKS  Dam, Soo River���������The Nairn Falls  Power Co., Ltd., 811 Rogers bldg.,  Vancouver, is applying to the Comptroller of Water Rights, at Victoria,  for a license to store 100,000 acre ft.  of water out_of Soo River,_which flows ,  west and drains into Green river 1-2  mile south of the southerly boundary  of Lillooet Land Recording Dist.  The project involves creating a reservoir to hold 100,000 acre ft. and to  flood 3,000 acres; to be used for power  purposes.  EXCELLENT PROGRESS ON  GRAND TRUNK WORK  Grading has been completed on the  Pacific Great Eastern between Squam-  ish and Lillooet, a distance of 120  miles, and track laying has been advanced to a point 38 miles from tide  water. Construction work beyond  Fort George will be started at an early  date.  MAILLARDVILLE   MAY  INSTAL WATER SYSTEM  Waterworks, Maillardville���������It is said  the council may go ahead with the'  Rochester and "Austin "/Road" water-"  works installations. The Maillardville  scheme was vetoed by the ratepayers,  but the other two projects gained the  necessary votes. Power Plant, . Edmonton���Messrs.
Sanderson & Porter, of New York, financiers and builders of hydro electric
plants recently, made a proposal to
the city of Edmonton to furnish the
city with electric power. The proprosed
plant would be erected at Moose River,
B. C, in the Yellowstone Pass of the
Rockies. Its minimum capacity would
be 300,000,000 K.W.H. transmitted by
cable to Edmonton. The estimated
cost of the project is S3.H00.000.
Contractors' Supplies ��� Tenders are
being received by Geo. O. Alcorn, Master-in-Ordinary, Osgoode Hall, Toronto, Ont., until 2:30 p.m., Sept. 18, for
purchasing certain assets of the liquidated company.
The assets are distributed over British ��Golumbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and
as far east as Montreal, and include:
Concrete mixers, roofing and flooring
material,   steam   rollers,   hoisting   engines, etc.
Synagogue, Vancouver���Tenders for
the constr. of a Jewish Synagogue bldg
to be erected on the south side of
Melville St., between Thurlow and
Bute Sts., are now being taken from
selected contractors by Braunton &
Liebert, archts., Exchange Bldg.
The bldg wil be two stories of frame
and brick construction, and will cost
about $20,000. Plans have been approved by the building inspector.
' Lockup, Phoenix���The Dept of Public Works, according to a notice in
this week's issue of the Provincial
Gazette, is calling for tenders, which
will be received up to Wednesday,
September 9, for the erection of. a
lock-up at McBride, Cariboo district.

Bridge, Calgary���Acting City Clerk
J. Barnes of Calgary, is receiving tenders until 10 a.m., Aug. 26, for erecting
a reinforced concrete arch bridge over
the Elbow River in that city. Plans
and specifications are at the office of
the city 'engineer in Calgary.
The bridge will consist of four arch
spans, with abuttments, piers and approaches. Each tender must be accompanied by a certified cheque for
$5,000.
Shipbuilding & Drydock, North Vancouver���Tenders for the const, of the
proposed drydock and shipbuilding
plant to be built on1 the north shorecof
Burrard Inlet will be received by the
Dominion Shipbuilding & Drydock Co.,
