Last 'night the  city council decided to return all certified cheques.held from the various  contractors, at once and to call for  tenders - for the ' proposed outl'all to  connect ��������� with the Glenbrook outfall.  Tenders will also be called for on the  original outfall through the Brunette  Saw  Mills  property. The city  er.ginear's estimate is $2,7S0.  Kaien   island   Road  Read, Prince Rupert���������A start has  been made on the Kaien Island road.  Under the direction of John Manson,  a crew of about twelve men left for  the western end of the townsite near  Casey Cove. It is thought the completed road will cost about $100,000. REDCLIFF   BRICK   PLANTS  REPORT   BUSINESS   BRISK  Redcliff, Alberta ��������� The Redcliff  Brick & Coal Co. has just received  orders for 1,250,000 common, face and  hollow block for the provincial asylum  at Ponoka, Alberta.   -  Another order received this -week is  for 550,000 pressed brick for the Dominion armory at Edmonton.  Other orders amounting to 5,000,000  brick await signature, and altogether  there is sufficient work ahead- to keep  this plant going to capacity with a  force of 175 lp,200 men the balance  of the  year.  The "Redcliff Pressed Brick Co. is  shipping fifteen cars weekly, filling  orders lor anew./hospital''at' Medicine  Hat, and business blocks at Irvine,  Warner and Weyburn.  The Ornamental iron Works has  just booked orders for Regina college,  the Douglas block Moose Jaw, and,'.a  quantity of school work for this district. They have orders ahead for  over" $100,000 worth of their product.  The Redcliff Clay Products Co. is  shipping from twelve to fiite'en _ cars  per week to Swift Current aad other  points, and they are also, supplying  the brick for a number of local structures. Only tentative outline sketch designs for the building are requested,  and eight (8) prizes are offered aggregating ������6000, the first being ������2000,  in addition to commission for' service  at the scale of the Royal Institute of  British Architects.  7.
