The Mixtures & No. 5 faced
each other for ihe fourth time on
Saturday in the final oi the Cum
herland and District cup.
The Mixtures played the same
as did duty in the last game. No
5 had one change, Russell playing for Connor':;.
-jfo5-agai jH os t-thetoss-and-
kicked off toward the top goal,
{ifter two ljrinutesplay W. Clarke
put No. one up by beating
Walker.with a shot close in. This
early reverse seethed to put some
Vim into the Mixtures for a
time, and they kept No. 5,, defense busy. They forced the defense to give away several corners, but they could take no advantage irom them. Play of a
give and take nature followed
No. 5 seemed to have a better
grip qf the game and held tbe
upper hand until half time was
palled.
After a few minutes respite the
the teams commenced again, No,
<5 forwards soon made tracks towards the Mixtures goal, aud B.
Reese put No. j two up with a
goodBhoi from about 30 yd'sout
Tbe Mixtures custodian seemed
to he deceived with thc ball, as
ho made no effort to save until
it wus too late. This second reverse seemed to take the heart
put,of the Mixtures, as they did
not put the samo vim into tlieir
play, n they did iu the previous
games. The g.'iiiH* now seemed as
good nr, won, ns both to;\ms were
taking it easy. Rain commenced
to fall about fi fit-en minutes from
time, ami made the ground very
slippy, aud spoiled the play lo a
ceita'in extent, No, 5 uuiinUined
their lead until time was called,
when they retired winners hy
two goals to nil.
