Mr Davie for plaintiffs Angus McPherson and Wm. Stephenson stated a������ election for foreman was held on the 17th April last, and that McPherson was elected ; that he had charge of the claim as foreman ever since, until the 23d June, when tbe defendants refused to obey him. The Judge here suggested a ballot for foreman, and in the event of a tie he would give tbe casting vote. ; ; The suggestion was acted upon.. Kemp was the candidate for foreman chosen by defendants, and McPherson the plaintiffs' candidate. The'ballot resulted in a tie, and tbe Judge gave the casting vote for Kemp. The Court directed each party to bear tbeir own costs. Mr Park for defendants. Application by Mr Davie was! then made and granted tor an order suspending funh< r work pending a suit for dissolution &.nd winding up, Mr Kemp to look after the claim in the meantime; - Lothair Co. vs. Wm. Description | The Cariboo Sentinel was published in Barkerville, in the Cariboo region of central British Columbia, and ran from June 1865 to October 1875. At the time, Barkerville was home to a fast-growing community of miners who had been attracted to the Cariboo region by the discovery of gold. The Sentinel was published by George Wallace, and its stated objective was not only to disseminate mining intelligence, but also to eradicate official abuse[s] of power, both within the Cariboo region and beyond (vol. 1, no. 1, p. 2). |
