'.."..... ■■"•- . "Six weeks to Paris and a billion dollars indemnity," said the Kaiser, "and half tlie north of France annexed." ' "Then nor. more than three months to St. Petersburg (as it was then) and not less than three billion dollars indemnity, with most of Southeastern Russia added to our soft." Alas for efficiency! "Wilhelm now has on the wrong- side of the ledger a sound thrashing- and twenty billions of dollars war debt, besides what few billions he will accumulate In his ninth war loan, now being floated.. German bankers, who have discoursed profoundly of "victories of profit," rated 1ST1 as a "reasonably orolitable" adventure. In August. 1914, they doubtless expected a return for Germany of at least 1000 per cent. In June, 191S, they rubbed their hands delightedly over equally bright prospects. '< "Now, such is the fickleness of fate, they are talking with infantile seriousness of a victory "at par." What Germany will get is hocoraing more clear every day. When the full tide of America's war strength set toward France early last summer, German hopes began their last ebb. The Allies in France may be able to give the Germans the absolute. defeat that will be indicted upon .them .before their peace "yelps" are taken seriously. Early in the life of the truck industry, the originators of the four-wheel drive obtained basis patents on the principles which give the Duplex its amazing abilities to perform. These patents have many years to run. The Duplex 4-Wheel Drive has practically four times the pulling power of any rear wheel drive truck of equal size and capacity. The truck, loaded to capacity, has the additional power to pull from two to three fully loaded trailers through snow, sand or loam, or up grades that any rear wheel drive truck would find difficult to negotiate with only its own capacity load. Trailer loads are the severest tests of a truck's stamina. The Duplex frame is designed and constructed to absorb and withstand the constant succession of strains on the draw bar resulting from the wrenching jerks of a string of trailers in tow. A Duplex 4-Wheel Drive truck, even when loaded to full capacity, cannot be stalled as long as any one of its four drive wheels can find traction. The Duplex chain case gives it a tremendous reserve power fully ample, when applied to any one of its four wheels, to extricate the truck from any road hole into which it is driven. By throwing a lever at his right hand, the Duplex driver can obtain the tremendous power of 64 crankshaft turns to each revolution of a drive wheel—a power impulse from the motor for every 2 inches of wheel travel. Through the use of the Duplex Adler self-locking differentials on both front and rear axles, the Duplex is able to go and keep going as long as any one of the four wheels can find traction. COSTS NO MORE THAN THE ORDINARY HEAVY DUTY TRUCK. Phone Seymour 1860 For Full Particulars, Specifications, etc. CAR AGENCY. Look at Bull Durham. How many of you fellows would keep right at it when the Government had taken over your entire] output. But the American Tobacco company knows that the people will buy Bull Durham again after the war, but they are very likely to forget the name unless it is constantly pounded into their heads. That's one bad habit of the public they soon forget a name or brand.
