VICTORIA — The Marine Department is calling for tenders for the construction of a reinforced concrete  building on its new site on the waterfront just north of Johnson St. bridge,  all tenders to be in by November 1.  As soon as the tenders have been  submitted to Ottawa and the contract  let, work will be commenced. It is  expected that the building will be constructed within three months from  the time /of starting.  The location of the structure, which  is to be used for the storage of carbide and coal oil, will be just below  the boiler house of the Foundation  Company, Limited. The building will  be modern in every respect, proper  provision being made for fire protection and the roof being of metal.  The new building which is about to  be put up will be 90 feet long by 32  feet in width. made reports in June as to .the list'
of buildings  to  be  repaired  or  condemned   have   been ..waiting  till *-thev
middle of this month to see'how far
voluntary orders  of  the  Council. for
repairs or condemnation would* be followed.    An inspection 'is  now being
made forthe purpose* of determining
how far the directions have been,carried out. , Where the instructions have
not been responded to the Council will
issue formal orders.

objectionable buildings therein, was
adopted by the city council last week
