It is proposed also to take in the premises formerly occupied by the Diamond Liquor Co. Details are not'available *at 'present as plans have not as yet been prepared. VANCOUVER — The Vancouver & Districts Joint Sewerage and Drainage Board has let the contract for supplying all lumber needed in the construction of the Tenth Ave. sewer to Robertson & Hackett. Figures received for the sand and gravel were considered too high and thrown out, the Board deciding to buy as required. Contracts for the other materials have not been let as yet. GILLEY BROS. VANCOUVER—The Northern Construction Co., Vancouver Block, are ready to receive figures for the supply of approximately 200 tons of reinforcing steel to be used in the construction of the concrete platform and trainshed at tho Canadian Northern Ry. Co.'s depot. False Creek. The contractors will be ready shortly to receive figures for the supplying of other materials in connection with the same job. Oscar Jjachmund** ,announces. Mr. Lachmund is in the city on business. This paves the way for the important development work contemplated. The plans provide to expend the bond issue in the further development of the mine, and the construction of a concentrating mill to handle eventually 3,000 tons of ore per day. An experimental mill has already been in operation. The company has been in negotiation with the Kettle Valley Railway for a branch line to Princeton, about 13 mile3 long, a power transmission line, having already been constructed from that town. In explaining the proposals of the company Mr. Lachmund stated that the concentrating mill and the mines would be a considerable distance apart, and therefore the employees will be somewhat scattered, ultimately numbering some GOO men. VANCOUVER — It is improbable that there will be any additional shipbuilding contracts let on this coast unless a shipbuilding loan for the Imperial authorities should be financed in this country. This is the news which is brought by J. A. Cunningham, president of the B. C. Manufacturers* Association, who has just returned from the. East, where he went some weeks ago in connection with the future of the shipbuilding industry here. The shipbuilding contracts already let here are well advanced now and interest is keen as to what the pros pects are for further work. VICTORIA-That there will be fur- ther delay in the negotiations between the city and the Esquimau & Nanaimo Railway over the construction of the proposed Johnson Street bridge was made clear yesterday when Mayor Todd was informed that the railway company will make no reply to the city's proposal of August S, but will try, to find out whether the Dominion Board of Railway Commissioners has any jurisdiction in the issue between the city and the railway; The city recently urged the board to eliminate further delay in rendering a decision in the negotiations. Vice- President E. W. Beatty, K.C., of the C.P.R., according to the statement of the board, has announced the company's intention of disregarding the city's proposals, and will test the jurisdiction of the commissioners. The proposals made by the city were endorsed by the Department of Railways of British Columbia. It was said at the City Hall yesterday that the city had made a mistake in taking the case to the railway commission instead of going directly to the courts on the city's claim to traffic rights over the railway bridge.
