The plan generally meets with the approval of the park board which lias for many years had such a natatorium in.prospect for a 11-the-year-round bathing. But the legal hitch which at present blocks the scheme arises from tlie face-that the, park board has no power to lease city property for any.longer than five years. As the promoters are understood to have the funds available ready to proceed with the work, the park board has taken the necessary steps to ask the city council to submit to the ratepayers at the coming elections either a plebiscite or a bylaw that will authorize the park board to close the deal with the natatorium promoters.
