As the property owners are so hostile, it looks as if the city will have J to stand the cost of a new pavement. VICTORIA—With the production of coal in British Columbia for the first ten months of the year at the 2,000,- 000 ton mark, it is assured that the output for the entire year will be considerably larger than that of last year, when the total production was 2,04S,000 tons: Interesting figures of production for the year to date have been compiled in the office of the chief mine inspector, of the Department of Mines. - They show that the production of the Vancouver Island mines is considerably in excess' of those in other portions of the Province, the figures for the ten months being: Vancover Island, 1,431,552 tons, and for the balance of the= Province, 540,929 tons; a total of l,9o_,- 4S1 tons. It is understood that complete plans and specifications of the building have been prepared by Archt. J. A. On the Mainland the ten months production' of the Crow's Nest Coal mines was 41S.224 tons and that in the Nicola field was 122,705, a total of 540,929 tons. These figures indicate that, while earlier in the year when the strike troubles in the Crow's Nest pass district occurred it was thought this year's output for the province would fall far behind that of last year, the fact is that production, at the present rate, will show an increase over that of 1916. Because of the fact that the RECORD is tfie only paper published in the province devoted exclusively to the contracting business it is read by practically every one you would like to sell your products to.
