Last year  116,000 was voted in the way of assistance in the construction of hospitals.  This year about $150,000 will probably  'be granted for that purpose. Grants to  refuge homes, aid societies, etc, is increased from $19,000 to $SC,000.  University of B. C.  Among the appropriations in this  'year's estimates is a conditional one of  ■200,000 for the University of British  Columbia. Last year's estimate was  $175,000. Included in the works and  buildings to be constructed by the Public Works Department are the iollow-  lng: Okalla prison farm, $lo,000;  Improvement of government reserve,  Burnaby, $10,000; mental hospital and  colony farm, Essondale, $35,000; provincial government buildings, London (com-  Dletion^ and maintenance), $1*5,000;  "maintenance, $8,000. The appropriations  provincial normal school, Vancouver,  for roads, streets, bridges and wharves  in each constituency are the same as  last year., Chilliwack gets $33,300;  Delta $22,500; Dewdney, $68,500, and  Richmond $10,000. Eighty thousand is  revoted for Kingsway thiough the Municipality of Burnaby. Point Grey gets  $10,000-for roads, and Mcomen Island  the same amount for dyking; $13,500 is a  subsidy for the Ladner-Woodward ferry.  Other Appropriations.  - The vote of $400,000 on last year's  estimates for the Second Narrows bridge  Is left off. For bridges generally $4o0,-  000 is set down, while for the bridge  over the Fiaser Rivei at Piin.ce George  there will be an appropriation of $150,-  000.  An item In the Land Department appropriations is that for $20,000 lor  "timber testing and investigation of  wood products." An indication that the  government intends to continue seeking  ' overseas markets for the B. C. lumber  trade is that another $50,000 is appropriated for salaries, travelling expenses,  and purchase of material.  Among   the   other   appropriations   are  the   following:  Grant to B.
