C. Ceiling & Roofing Co. London Bldg. for the construction of; week, there will be some change from the buildings at the University site,! the outiine discussed at the prelimin- PointGrey. The figures are being con-|ary meeting at Royal'Oak recently, sidered at present and it is expected j ^t that meeting the discussion had that it will be at least two or three :centered round the proposal to pro- days before an announcement of .the.,ceed wjtn a main along Shelbourne St. '" " ■■----•- '- to Feltham Road, and thence to Gor don Head. When the meeting takes place this week, it will be suggested | by the Saanich officials that the district could be better served by leaving Shelborne St. near the Cedar Hill | Cross Road, and proceeding in a north- ! easterly direction across subdivision land to Gordon Head Road. It is believed that better service could be given by that route, the laterals running westerly through the strawberry and other orchards. If the City will sanction the taking up of portion of the Lake Road main, replacing it where needed by smaller diameter pipe, there will be five miles of pipe available for installation. To obtain new pipe, apart from existing stocks, is practically impossible now, so that any scheme will have to adapt itself to utilize material now on hand. The city officials will not, of course, go beyond the statement made publicly until they have had a chance of looking into the situation more fully on the ground with the aid of the data gathered by Saanich officials some months ago. VANCOUVER—A health clinic building, to cost approximately $30,000 will be erected by the Vancouver Rotary Club on the old hospital grounds facing Pender St., with the object of making a more determined fight against the white plague in Vancouver. The Rotary club plans to start a campaign to raise funds for the erection of this building, which is to be presented to the city free of all cost, on the condition that the city grant the use of the old hospital site on which to erect the building. The Rotary club already has a large share of the necessary sum pledged for the erection of the building. Balfour, Guthrie & Co. The revenue shows s falling off of about $1,000,000 for the anticipated revenue "for ,this year, while the expenditures show a slight increase* The exact estimated revenue is $5,- •44,015, as compared with $7,134,615 for the present year, a difference of $1,095,- ♦00. The estimated -disbursements are $11,301,374, as compared with $11,163,- •66 for the previous year, "an increase Of $138,000. The increase is, more than accounted for by the increased fixed Charges, which are over .$300,000. Among the appropriations in this year's estimates is a conditional one ot $200,000 for the University of British Columbia. Last year's estimate was $175,000.
