The district of North Vancouver^ have intimated to the city that they would assist in some improvements to the ferry service in return for its citizens getting advantage] of the cheap rates on the ferry boats. The improvement suggested was having the wharves Improved and better facilities provided for landing pedestrians off the boats to board the street cars without interference with the vehicular traffic. The original plan provided, for the street cars coming down on the east side of the wharf, but new plans were submitted by the city engineer, Mr. Clucas. Other Appropriations. 1 The vote of $400,000 on last year's estimates for the Second Narrows bridge Is left off. For bridges generally $450,- •00 is -set down, while .for the bridge over the Fraser River at Prince George there will be an appropriation of $150,- •00. An item in the Land Department appropriations is that -for $20,000 for "timber testing and investigation of wood products." An indication that the government intends to continue seeking overseas markets for the B. C. lumber trade is that another $50,000 is appropriated for salaries, travelling expenses, and purchase of material. Among the other appropriations are the following: n Grant to B. The Record was published by the Record Publishing Company, which had previously published the paper under a number of different titles, including the Daily Building Record and the British Columbia Building Record. The Record subsequently evolved into the Journal of Commerce. |
