These were discussed at a special meeting of the school board held on Tuesday night. Up to the present there las been no adequate technical school .in the province, and if the proposal jof the board is carried out it will mean ithat a technical high school costing, iwith equipment, $200,000 will be built in Vancouver. In view of the fact that this would be a great benefit in the re-establishment of returned .soldiers •in civil life, it was decided to ask.the federal and provincial governments for grants, use of it-to be made for returned men. There has been no site suggested for this building, which will i oe of one-storey construction. The question of 'erecting a high school in Kltsilano was discussed, but it was decided to put no bylaw before the-people this year for this purpose. There will be, however, a bylaw for eight more rooms to the General Gordon school in Kltsilano, costing $96,- 000. It is proposed to add eight rooms to the McDonald school, Hastings and Victoria drive, at a cost of $96,000. A nix-roomed addition to the Dawson school, Helmcken and Burrard, costing $72,000,was recommended. New school sites in various parts of the city are needed, and the board win ask for $50,000 for their purchase. A further amount of $30,000 will be asked for desks, furniture and the tern 'porary one-roomed buildings, each costing about $1500, which are erected to take care of overflow attendance in the present schools. No discussion took place on the reopening of schools following the influenza epidemic, hut a special meeting to consider this matter may be held shortly. Trustee T. Matthews presided in the place of Dr. W. H Lang, chairman, who is recovering from influenza. [the contractors on Monday next.
