VANCOUVER—Action toward the carrying out of the city's plan to enter into competition wit'h the B. C. Electric in the matter of the sale of electric light and power in the city was commenced by the city council Monday evening. It was decided to ask Sir Adam Beck, head of the On- tario hydro-electric commission, to suggest a competent engineer to report on available water powers and Mayor McBeath gave notice that he would introduce a bylaw for the expenditure of an unstated sum for the investigating, acquiring, purchasing, developing, etc., of water powers. VICTORIA — Property owners in the Rock Bay district on Monday made another attempt to induce the City Council to take some action towards the reconstruction of the bridge. Six of them, under Mr. Chas. Wilson, appeared before the streets committee of the Council and asked the aldermen to reconsider their decision of last Monday night when the bill by which the Legislature would | give the city the power to enter into an agreement for the reconstruction of the bridge was turned down Nothing definite was decided on Monday, but the aldermen asked City Solicitor Hannington to submit on Monday night a complete interpretation of the bill and the by-laws which govern the city in dealing with the matter.
