A greater clearance would involve additional expense. A fifty-foot span with a fifteen- foot clearance would cost $7,600. It was pointed out by some of the aldermen that even with the new span, the bridge would not be safe for heavy traffic, as the old part is weak. The Record was published by the Record Publishing Company, which had previously published the paper under a number of different titles, including the Daily Building Record and the British Columbia Building Record. The Record subsequently evolved into the Journal of Commerce. |
