VANCOUVER—Reports received by lumber firms from the prairie prov inces are to the effect that never at this season of the year has the demand for lumber been so strong. Usually in January, February and March the de mand fell off appreciably, but so great, is the amount of business already in hand that many of the mills are withdrawing their travellers from the road temporarily. The situation is somewhat complicated by the shortage of cars, but generally speaking busines.i has never been so good at this time of the year as at present. Many farmers, who at one time had little dugouts for barns, are now putting up now buildings. Particularly is this noticeable in Alberta and Saskatchewan. EDMONDS—An agreement was reached regarding the tentative proposition of the Dominion Film Corporation at last week's special meeting of the council. The clerk'was instructed to ask the solicitor to prepare a by-law in time/if possible, to pass its first and second readings at the next regular meeting of the council on'Monday night. If not, it is the intention of the council to hold a special meeting for the purpose. The matter will await the ratepayers' endorsement at a plebiscite to be held shortly.
