TORONTO — Wholesale trade is quiet. Retail tirade good. Manufacturing dull and collections slow. Trade is quiet in wholesale dry goods, and while a slight increase is reported over the corresponding period last year, the gain is small. Large house 'sales only rendered such an increase possible, as sorting orders and orders for fall are very slow. Large department stores are busy, millinery sections being particularly busy. Collections were very slow in February. The boot and shoe trade is optimistic, with [business favorable. Hardware is quiet and payments are not met promptly. New export orders have been allotted J for flour, and this is expected to have a beneficial effect on the gain trade. Grocery trade is generally healthy. WINNIPEG—Wholesale trade is improving; retail trade is fair. Industry is active and collections fair. Don't be disappointed if things don't always come out right. Owners of Tug "CLSVE" General Towing 324 Front St New VVestmiBSter Telephone 1015 CLAIMS NUWAY GAS IS PRACTICAL SOLUTION ,OF THE FUEL PROBLEM The Vancouver Gas Appliance Company, 767 Robson street have been appointed sales agents of the "Nuway" Kerosene gas generator and burner. The "Nuway" appliance capable of being fitted to all regular makes'of cook stove and ranges will be handled in Vancouver by this well-known pas Appliance Company, who have started an aggressive campaign to push the sale of the apliance on the market, as they are confident that it will offer a practical and economical solution of the fuel problem. By means of compression by an air ! pump, ordinary kerosene oil, which is j not subject to fluctuations in price i like gasolene, is supplied under pres- j sure to a generator tube where it is: j vaporized. Then it passes through a ! mixing chamber and needle valve where it is mixed with air in such proportions as to provide the greatest j amount of heat at the lowest price. The flame, which is'odorless and, capable of perfect control, is further protected against leakage by means of a newly patented automatic check, called upon to do so, or if he fails to complete the work contracted for. The cheques of unsuccessful tenderers will be returned to them upon the execution of the contract. ( Tenders will'riot be considered unless made out on the forms supplied' and signed with the actual signature of the tenderers.
