•wooden steamers for the Imperial au-'
thorities, a  local  concern  is contemplating  commencing  shipbuilding  operations at Ruskin, 13. C.   The organization, known as the Standard Shipbuilding Co., with offices in  the  Dominion Building, is said to have been
' awarded  the  contracts  from  London
direct   through   Sir   Joseph   McClay,
'controller   of   shipping   in    the    Old
Country.
Operations may be commenced toward the latter part of the month.
Ruskin is located at the confluence of
the Fraser ,and Stave rivers and
should prove an ideal site for shipbuilding.

This year about.$150,000 will probably
be granted for that'purpose. Grants to
refuge homes,- aid societies, etc, is increased from  $19,000 to $8C,000.
