The Foundation Company. Ltd., has  been awarded a number of contracts  for -wooden vessels of the steam-propelled type and a suitable site has  been secured for the immediate  launching of the undertaking.  The yard will be established . on  the old Songhees Indian Reserve, her  tween the Dominion Government's  property north of the Esquimalt &  Nanaimo Railway Bridge, and the  existing shipyards operated by the  Cameron Genoa Mills Shipbuilders,  Ltd. The property has over 1.200  feet of waterfrontage and includes  the   site   now   occupied   by   Tin-pel's  ways.  Other shipyards will be established  here apart from the Foundation Company, and the existing plants will  also get a share of the contracts to  be awarded. The Imperial Munitions  Board plans to go ahead with the  construction of ships for a number  of years, but at the outset the programme will not be large. The appropriations  provincial normal school, Vancouver.  tor roads, streets, bridges and wharves  tn each constituency are-the same as  test year. .-Chilliwack gets $33,300;  "Delta, $22,500," Dewdney, $68,500, and  Richmond $40,000." Eighty thousand is  sevoted for Kingsway through the Municipality of Burnaby.. Point Grey gets  $10,000 for roads, ,and Nicomen Island  -the same amount for dyking; $13,500 is a  •ubsidy for the Ladrier-Woodward ferry.  The vote of $400,000 on last year's  estimates for the Second Narrows bridge  hi left off. For bridges generally $450,-  •00 is set down, while for the bridge  'over the Fraser River at Prince George  there will be an appiopriation of $150,-  •00. .  An item In the Land Department ap-  - propriations Is that for $20,000 for  "timber testing and investigation * of  wood products.". An indication that the  government intends to continue seeking  overseas markets for the B. C. lumber  trade Is that another $50,000 is appropriated for salaries, travelling expenses,  and purchase of material.   .  Other Appropriations.
