Packaro — Nash — Maxwell Trucks and Passenger Cars 1230 Georgia St._l Seymour 4030 OFFICE TO MAXWELL MODEL With the horse already losing his job to the automobile, now it's the camel's turn to be displaced by the motor car as a common carrier. At least, such is the purport of a letter forwarded by Paul .Mayeur, Maxwell dealer at Algiers,-Africa, to the Detroit headquarters of the company this week. The letter, inscribed in quaint Arabic characters, is from Baba Ben Ama- da, grandson of the Caid Kasi, mogul of the Algerian province called Guer- rara on the edge of the Sahara Desert, and under French rule. As translated, it reads: "GUERRARA, Jan. J 6, 1918.—Praise only be to God and let him bestow his mercies on our prophet Mahommed. "To our friend, the most dear of men to us: "Mr. Paul Mayeur, Maxwell Automobiles, Rue Borely-la Sapie, Algiers. "T understand that you have a Maxwell car for disposal and I ask you to be good enough to reserve it for me, because I desire to purchase a'car of this make, as it is very wellr known amongst us in the .Sahara" and stands the conditions of the country. I will take delivery of this car on Wednesday jnext. "Yours faithfully, "BABA BEN AMADA, "Grandson of the Caid Kasi." Baba's reference to the Maxwell's ability to stand the desert conditions is due, Maxwell officials believe, to its perfected cooling system, which under desert conditions equally trying in the "bad lands" of America, vies with the famed "thirsUess camel" , for endurance.
