Moffat has received the contract for building an addition to the Vernon Fruit Union's big Avare- house, and has started work. The addition will be placed at the east end of the warehouse and will be 150 by 100 feet in size witha frost-proof basement. "Manager Kinnard made a trip to the coast this week to hurry up the delivery of the building material. When this large structure .was built last year some feeling existed that it was too large for«-present requirements- but so great was the development of the business last season that more space was found necessary, and the. • warehouse company has wisely decided to take this step in order to have ample facitities for handling this summer's crop. It is expected that the addition will be completed by the end of August. T. G. McBRIDE & CO. ESTABLISHED 1898 WHOLESALE AND RETAIL DEALERS IN SAND, GRAVEL, BRICK. LIME. It is expected that an award will be made about, towards the end of July and construction will be proceeded with during the late summer and the fall. The school board has realised $71,- 000 from the sale of i(.s $8.5,000 issue of bonds and as the provincial government will give a grant of one third of the cost of-the building the total sum available will be approximately $100,000. I 4} ' The proposed now building is to be of bricl: and heavy mill consrtuction, somewhat similar to Ellis school. It is planned to have metal window sash and concrete corridor floors and stairs. Ellis school built about seven years ago. cost $50,000 or about half of the anticipated cost of the new building. The new structure will have eight class romSj togetlier with a large auditorium on the ground floor, seating 500 persons, a manual training room under the auditorium and a domestic science room also in the basement. The building will have two or three offices and recreation rooms as well as a good sized room for library purposes.
