mineralogist at Victoria, has been appointed resident engineer, district No.
2, known as the northeastern mineral
survey district, with headquarters at
Hazelton.
Coal from tlie Diamond Vale at Mer-
ritt makes coke of high quality, v It
shows the highest percentage of fixed
carbon, and the lowest percentage of
ash of any coke made in B, C. The
sooner coke ovens are built at Merritt
the better it will be for the smelters

VICTORIA—The city will call for
tenders for a new implement building
at the Garbally Road yards. Plans submitted by the building inspector call
for a structure having all brick walls
on the outside, tar and gravel roof and
cement floors. The cost of this would
be $4,500. A frame building veneered
on the sides would cost $3,700. Tenders for the two styles are being called for.
