NORTH VANCOUVER — Communi cation between West and North Vancouver, except by ferry,' was wiped out by flood waters which wrecked part of the wooden bridge at the corner of Keith road and Fell Ave.; put the B. C. Electric railway bridge over Mosquito creek in such a condition as to render it unsafe for traffic, and washed away the easterly approach to the big concrete bridge on the Marine drive over the Capilano river. A -wash-out ^ on Fell Ave. was another of the troubles of the city, but it is estimated that the storm damage to the city will be covered by ; about $2,000. The west abutments of the B. C. Electric bridge were washed out but when the rain ceased the danger of it being carried away ended. The easterly approaches to the big concrete bridge on the Marine drive in West Vancouver were washed out by the raging waters of the Capilano. There are really two* concrete bridges, one over the old dry bed of the river and the-other over the main .stream, and it is the bridge' over the main portion which has suffered. As the official publication for the Architectural Institute of B.C., the B.C. Builders’ Exchange, and the Building and Construction Industries’ Exchange of B.C., the Record primarily covered news related to building, contracting, engineering, real estate, and industrial finance. The Record was published by the Record Publishing Company, which had previously published the paper under a number of different titles, including the Daily Building Record and the British Columbia Building Record. The Record subsequently evolved into the Journal of Commerce. |
