VANCOUVER—To cope with the acute housing problem on the north shore of the Inlet and also to •■-.secure, the- advantages of haying its employees residing handy to the -shipyard plant, Mr. A. Wallace, president of the" Wallace Shipyard Company, has outlined and will submit to the employees of that concern short-; / ly a co-operative plan for constructing a considerable number of moderate priced dwellings which the workmen can acquire as their own on terms that will be practically the same as rent. " Estimates which have been prepared by experts for Mr. Wallace show that a comfortable, modern, seven- roomed house can be built for $3,500, by building a number on the co-opj eratiye plan, while four and,five-room bungalows can be erected along similar lines for $2,500 and $2,700. As the shipyards there has work in sight for the next five years and expects to be in a position to compete in the world's markets , after that, Mr. Wallace is anxious to build up the city and also acquire a steady resident.stafT of employees, and considers" the "Own your own home*' movement would produce the best results in this respect, WRIGHT BROS. Description | The British Columbia Record was published in Vancouver, and ran from June 1916 to July 1922. The Record was published every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. As the official publication for the Architectural Institute of B.C., the B.C.
