THE VALUE OF TIME Every day there is deposited to Tour credit 1,440 freshly minted min- artes—to guard or lose—to waste or -sure, and these deposits every day are -your biggest assets for the year. In this respect all men are equals. Each .starts his day with the same number _Df minutes ahead of him, how he em- !>-oys them marks the difference between men at the day's close, at the -end of a span of years. How they are employed marks the difference between success and failure. The success or failure of your hangs on one thing—the way you invest -time. Those who waste time are wasted by time-—we have Hut to ask at death-bed sof those who have been •prodigal with their moments to learn of the disparing requets for wasted Hours. Arrow-swift is the present, loitering slow the future, motionless -forever stands the "past. "Improve -each shining ljtbjur," we-are admonished, for your nor any age is not rich in time and you who would best employ it pay no moment but in purchase of its worth. . Most of us are fair workers.in our ^business and in our working hours -have extracted a passing average of —worth with, the closing of our books. 'The fault to be found with those who ■acres' false to their stewardship of their time is not to be found so much in how 'they failed to obtain the most out of their working hours, but what they failed to accomplish with what are commonly called "spare moments" -and "leisure hours." "Believe me," says Peter Pindar in liis I_yric Odes. "Times of monstrous use; but, ah! how subject to abuse." The "ail-Splitter's" spare moments made him'president, the baker's spare hours made Gladstone the statesman, the' plow-boy's spare moment .made Hill the Empire builder—they ■wasted no time. It .is how we use each one of the minutes allotted to *us that counts not how well we may *ise a certain number and the biggest successes are those who have the ■most minutes working for them. In this respect we are all employers— -all are capitalists of time, to be capitalists of industry, money or enterprise to the extent that we capitalize time. I-ife is time used, existence is time "wasted. The costliest draft the year can draw against you will read, "Pay to the order of lost time." ! dwelling, $2,100,"I. Brown & Co.rContr. 3620—Thos.
