A bill to incorporate the architects as a body to be known as the Architectural Institute of B. C, Has been prepared and has already received the hearty and avowed support of many members of the legislature. As the bill has been prepared with usual care, and its provisions are not drastic but liberal in the extreme, the ^architects are confident the bill will be passed during the present session and the profession thus receive the somewhat tardy but long-desired protection and recognition that such an important' calling well merits. . The most important factor in the bill to Canadian or British architects is that it will force their recognition on an equal footing by American associations of architects, ,and at the same time prohibit the too-free influx of "American architects here during building-boom times to get the cream of the trade while the building activity lasts. Under a very wisely drawn provision of the new bill, any architect seeking admission to the B. C. Society who is a citizen of a foreign country, shall only be admitted after baving passed such examination as is prescribed by the council, on condition that such foreign country recognizes the same standards of qualification as those under which the B. C. members are admitted.', This is, of course, designed to put architects on both sides of the boundary line on an equal footing, for in the past while American architects could come over here and practice, British architects did not have the same privelege in "Uncle Sam's domain. < The bill provides for a council of DOMINION PHOTO CO.
