In fact, it is al- j most a scandal the way in which many cases of infectious diseases have been forced to undergo treatment in what are by courtesy termed "isolation hospital" buildings, but which are really more fit for cattle than to treat suffering human beings in. The "flu" epidemic, both in its first grim spread as well as its present recrudescence, has illustrated the fact that hopital accommodation must be available for these and similar cases at any cost, and it is essentially necessary if the death rate is to be kept down. The La Rose Company, or Cobalt, has bought the Homestake, north of Kamloops. This mine has been idle twenty-two years. The flotation process may make this property profitable. If the foot is kept constantly on the clutch pedal, even thought lightly, the action causes rapid wear of tlie clutfeh thrust bearing, and clutch slipping. If the clutch is of the cone variety, the facing is worn excessively, while in the disclutch in oil the extra heat tends to thin the oil and permits grabbing. Drivers should keep off. the clutch except when it is to be operated. . ,. . Many car owners are finding ththt oil cups may be substituted for the grease cups commonly used in many locations "on the chassis, with eminently satisfactory results. The oil cup, n.eed be filled but once a month, perhaps, and it needs no turning down to perform its functions. However, where the grease cup is to be' substituted, some sort of connection will be needed to keep the oil cup straight.
