VANCOUVER — Hodgson & King,  London Bldg., have been awarded a |  contract by the Canadian Explosives  Ltd., to construct a new wharf at  James Island. The wharf will be about  500 feet long. 20 feet at approach and  70 feet at the end. The contractors  will do all the work themselves and  have let contracts to Victoria firms  for the supply of lumber and to the  Vancouver Creosoting Co.. Ltd. for the  supply of piling  ernment should give some, definite assurance that a start on the work would  be made in the early part of next year,  the provincial authorities have not yet  committed themselves in this respect.  This assurance was wanted so that the  farmers   could   go   ahead  with their  work this winter, knowing that their  crops would be protected against flooding in   the  summer.    Although  Hon.
