TRUCK COST SYSTEM IS NOT COMPLICATED Easy Guide Furnished Business Man Who Wishes to Keep Track of Expense That methods of keeping track of truck costs as followed by the National Standard trust cost system are not complicated, is the statement of U. I.. Kirchner, of the Reo Motor Car Agency. Instead of a mysterious, profession sacred to a few, the cost system forms an easy guide Tor the business man who wants to watch his expenditures and cost of operation.' "The cost system," says .Mr. Kirchner, "gives the cost of operating the truck, together with the different pieces of work which the truck performs; and by dividing the cost by the number of 'jobs,' ton, package, stop, customer or M-feet, shows the cost of each. "The items of expense recorded include primary items such as gasoline, oil..'repairs, etc.; miles, tons, packages, number of stops, etc., and these are caught by the driver. In addition are such items of fixed expense as interest, taxes, wages, garage, insurance, license, etc., which do not change. Thirdly, there is the investment, initial cost, equipment, etc. • "When all these charges are placed on a monthly basis, the daily service records and the' other items are, compiled. The Truck Owners' Conference at Chicago has opened an information bureau which promises to be of big help to truck owners all over the country in connection with this system." Copper - covered asbestos gaskets cushion the porcelain, protecting it from the smashing, hammer-like blows of the exploding gas mixture. As protection for the shell of the plug, a heavy coating of copper eliminates rust troubles, preventing absolutely the temper-trying exasperation of a spark plug rusted fast into the cylinder head. But the copper surface does more, it prevents carbon deposits; carbon will not adhere to copper under electrical heat, consequently spark plug short- circuiting, the trouble-maker of smooth- running engine operation, is eliminated and the motor is at its best in pickup, in ready response to the accelerator at all times, and in economical operation.
