C Distributors for a Battery Built Like a Bridge. The Philadelphia Storage Battery •Company are the manufacturers of the "Diamond Grid" Battery. The battery derives its name from the fact that the plates, of which it is built, are formed on a grid, or framework, the members of which cross one another and form angle boxes in the same manner as the trusswork of a bridge. In doin^so, they form hundreds of diamonds. Hence the name "Diamond Grid." II • This construction employs all the principles of modern structural steelwork. Wherever you'go you will see bridges, trestles, derricks, cranes and the like all built with these diagonal supports that form diamonds. V. In employing the "Diamond Grid," the Philadelphia Storage Battery Company have made their battery plates practically proof against buckling or losing the active material, and, as a consequence, they are able to guarantee the battery for eighteen months' service. The Jarvis Electric Co., Ltd., repair not only the Philadelphia Diamond Grid Battery, but every other make of storage-battery. • They also do re-charging at reasonable rates, and they carry in stock a new Philadelphia Storage Battery to fit any year, make or model of car. TIRES COST LESS NOW THAN THEY DID IN 1910 Despite high prices occasioned by the war, automobile tires today cost one-half as much as they did back in 1910. The same tire that cost $46.50 in 1910 can. be bought today for about $30, and other prices are in proportion. Fabric has increased 200 per cent in price and labor is seventy-five per cent, greater. However, plantation rubber is ninety per cent, cheaper than it was, while quantity production has reduced the cost of manufacture. Tire jumps in the past few years have been due to increase in cotton fabric. When it is possible to make a jiiore permanent repair, the pipe may be wrapped with fine copper "W-re, which should then be soldered over. To remove rust from the rims of a car, jack up the, rear wheels and start the . engine running on high. The wheiels will spin and emery paper is applied to the rim with a block and the rust will be eaten off in short order. 5y removing the fenders and running a band from a rear to a front wheel the same process may be repeated with the front wheels. ,. «*<^3r__«__^._-_? -EY-*.'
